Spanish Romance
SPANISH ROMANCE
He plays his guitar in the corner street
In Mexico City where Spanish Harlem brings the beat
Where his beautiful Spanish beauty till she reveals herself
Rita is beautiful but nows no wealth
To him she is as beautiful as the golden sun
When the moon comes to settle the day time fun
When stars shine as bright diamonds in the sky
His love for her, it could make him die
Rita a dancer, Spanish Seniorita she plays to his tune
And dances the siesta from January until June
To pick up a dime or two
To make a living in Harlem
So her days won't seem so blue
His undying love for her he cannont confess
But if he did no more of a man he would feel less
But in his heart Rita is his one
It's her beauty and love that all evil shuns
So one day he played her a sweet tune
And soon before it was noon
Harlem boys came around the bend
Aiming at Rita like it was the end
He knew the danger to slow to tell
Poor Rita they wanted to send her to hell
But it was too late and on the ground she lay
It soon become dark and dismal day
Jose watched his love gone forever
And he never got to show her never
How much he loved his Spanish Beauty in Harlem town
He died with her as he lay his head down
